You may or may not have noticed that JafferyGoodness disappeared from the Internet over Saturday before reappearing Sunday morning. This was due to lightning striking our local power supply which caused a surge, destroying the JafferyGoodness hard drive(!)

I've since replaced it and put in a surge protector, so fingers crossed there shouldn't be any more problems :-)

James.

Poetry Corner

Here's a rather random poem/rap from Kev. Original post on the forums is here, feel free to comment!

I want to eat a Jaffa Cake
Orange and tangy it tastes so good
Better than cakes Mr Kipling makes
But puts on the pounds so don't know if I should

When you can't get one it's a taste which is missed
But it's not a biscuit don't make that mistake
It's dark chocolate bliss with a bitter sweet twist
So I need to eat a Jaffa Cake!

Giant Jaffa Cakes!

This hasn't yet been tested by us, so make at your own risk! The original author, Dr. Archa Fox of lamondlab.com has however confirmed that this tastes great.

We'll report back when we've made it ourselves. If you beat us to it, please do say so on the forums, along with any advice you've got for the rest of us!

To make your giant Jaffa, you will need:

4 Navel (Seedless) Oranges, Small-Medium Size
8 Eggs
1 And A Half Cups Castor Sugar
200g Ground Almonds
200g Dark Chocolate
Half A Pint Of Cream

Simmer the whole oranges (with the peel still on!) keeping them covered with water, for about half an hour or until soft. Blend up the oranges (don't include any cooking water). Meanwhile, break the eggs into a bowl and whisk well. Add the sugar to the eggs and mix until it all dissolves. Add the almond meal to the egg/sugar mixture and mix well. Add the orange pulp to the eggy mixture mix through. Pour into a greased and lined 23cm tin with deep sides, or (ideally) split it into two 20 cm tins with deep sides. Bake at 180 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour depending on the tins and your oven. It's ready when a skewer comes out clean. Melt the chocolate and combine with 200 ml cream (the more cream you have the softer the mixture will be. When the cakes have cooled spread chocolate cream between the two layers, and spread on top.
