I'd just like to inform everyone, that may not be aware, that McVities use battery hen eggs in their Jaffa cakes, which I think is a real shame. I love their Jaffa cakes but don't want to buy stuff with eggs from caged birds. If there is anyone else out there who cares about battery hens can you please email and tell them to follow Cadburys example by using free range eggs instead. I've started buying The Co-op supermarket Jaffa cakes as they use free range eggs. Battery hens have no more space than an A4 sheet of paper. No room to stretch, spread their wings or do anything that is natural. They also get pecked all the time as they have to fight for every mouthful of food. Please help make a difference and email McVities. It only takes 2 mins. The BHWT campaigned to get Cadburys to change to free range eggs in their Creme eggs so if we all do the same with McVities they will be pressured to do the same. | 19 May 2008 14:06 |
